Let's break down why supermarket shampoos don't usually make the cut when it comes to caring for your hair...

HARSH, HARSH INGREDIENTS

Most supermarket shampoos contain sulfates, drying alcohols, and synthetic fragrances that might sound harmless, but really wreak havoc on your strands. Sulfates are powerful detergents, which are great... if you're scrubbing your bathroom tiles but your delicate hair deserves delicate care. So, what do these ingredients actually do to your hair? They strip away your hair's natural oils, leaving it dry, brittle, and prone to breakage.

Having scalp irritations? Well, this may be down to the not-so-fun cocktails of synthetic fragrances that are in your store bought shampoo. They might smell of your favourite fruit but is it really worth the itchiness?

A lot of supermarket shampoos rely on heavy silicones to create that glossy look everyone craves, but unfortunately those silicones are just coating your hair and not actually treating it. We promise you, if you could see behind the screen, that influencers bathroom would be full of all our favourite haircare brands, being the silent heroes to said "never been better hair". Do yourself a favour, don't believe everything you see on TikTok.

THE BOTTOM LINE
